Bancroft Amenities Ltd successfully tendered to construct three new football pitches on an old slag tip site, which although marked out as football pitches were totally unusable in winter months. Scheme had to produce good quality free draining pitches against the backdrop of fairly poor existing top soil limited depth and a limited maintenance budget.

• Strip off top soil
• Grade sub- formation
• Install lateral drains @ 5m centres
• Gravel carpet 4000m³
• Re-spread top soil
• Laser grade
• Sand amelioration 800 tonnes
• Seeding works

The scheme was successfully completed ahead of schedule and the pitches now provide quality free draining surfaces which have remained in use throughout this particularly wet winter.

These pitches are shown on Tameside MBC’s Website as their top A grade pitches.
